In looking back on my previous career in campus recruiting, I am most proud to say I’ve helped thousands of students land meaningful internships and entry-level opportunities. This would not have been possible without the help of hundreds of passionate and dedicated career services professionals across the nation.

Upon meeting Liz Wessel, WayUp’s Co-Founder and CEO, it was immediately clear that she deeply appreciates career services and campus recruitment professionals as well, and sees each of them as crucial partners in her mission. While the team frequently discusses these themes, we realized we may not have explicitly shared them with our career services partners. Below are a few words from Liz Wessel.

I was told by one of WayUp’s advisors, a Director of Career Services himself, that one of the ultimate roles of career services is to provide the resources students need to get hired. We are proud that WayUp has been a chosen resource by hundreds of career service professionals, and we hope that one day, we will be the chosen resource by all career service professionals.

At WayUp, our mission is to connect students with awesome opportunities. This motivation drives each member of the WayUp team (it’s why we’re proud to come to work each morning!), and we know our peers in career services share this passion. In fact, we are firm believers that career service offices are fundamental to achieving our mission – this human element and expertise can never be replaced by technology.

In creating WayUp, we envisioned and built a tool for students to connect with millions of businesses who would otherwise be unable to reach all schools. Not only do we work to connect students with awesome opportunities, but we also work hard to get them the ‘inside scoop’ straight from University Recruiters themselves — which has helped us create thousands of pieces of content in our highly-trafficked student blog. Who gives us blog content ideas? Not just students — career services offices, as well!

Working with and learning from career service professionals is core to who we are, and that will never change. We love working directly with students (after all, we have almost half a million student users, who attend every single accredited undergraduate school in the country), but we LOVE having a 360-degree approach of working both with them and their Career Service offices.

Our goal to democratize the hiring process and help every college student find meaningful opportunities is ambitious, but we know we can accomplish it alongside our amazing career services partners!
